I have worked in scientific, technical and medical (STM) publishing since finishing my PhD in 1997. I initially worked at the online research community for chemists, ChemWeb.com, before acquisition by Elsevier. That was followed by nearly 7 years in Amsterdam at Elsevier HQ working as a Publishing Technology Manager (turning publishing content into new online products) and then as a publisher working with mathematics, computer science and physics journal portfolios. On moving back to the UK I was Head of Communities for music website YourSpins.com, before returning to STM publishing with BioMed Central and leading their programme in extending open access publishing to physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering.
Married in June 2006 to Tamsin. Two children, Archie & Ella. Living on the north Devon coast and patiently waiting for proper broadband. When not messing around on the internet, I like to write comedy sketches, read late 19th century French literature, and listen to as much music as I can.
